Practice Shoot Ludgershall 23rd March 2025
Our first clay shoot of the month was unfortunately scuppered by the relentless March rains, leaving the ground waterlogged and completely unsuitable for the event. A frustrating start, but we remained hopeful the shoot later in the month would run.
The second shoot, initially planned for mid-March, was ultimately pushed back to the fourth Sunday due to a clash with schedules. This delay, while disappointing at first, proved to be a blessing in disguise. By the time the rescheduled day arrived, the weather had turned a corner, gifting us with a truly glorious, sun-drenched day. The ground, while still showing signs of the earlier deluge, had begun to dry out, making the shooting stands far more accessible. However, the access remained restricted for general vehicle access.
The rescheduled shoot, perhaps due to the date change, saw a slightly reduced turnout compared to our usual numbers. Those who couldn’t make it, however, truly missed out on an exceptional layout. The organizers had clearly put in a tremendous effort, crafting a course that offered a delightful mixture of challenging targets designed to test even the most seasoned shooters, alongside a selection of more forgiving clays that allowed beginners to enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed. The combination of the beautiful weather and the well-thought-out layout made for a truly memorable day of shooting
