A very successful shoot at our Quainton shooting ground. So many people out we had to have six squads. Unseasonably warm weather and dry ground.

Return Welsh Shoot
This Sunday was the return leg of the Welsh Shoot. The day started off wet, with almost torrential rain, but as soon as St Brides Major turned up, the tap was turned off and the morning shoot was sunny and hot. Kingswood started the day in the lead, so it was ours to throw away. We didn’t and increased our lead. Let’s not be complacent, this was I believe the first time we have won the match.
The top 9 team members for each team were used for the overall result: Kingswood 554, St Bride Major 502. This gave an overall result of, Kingswood 1016, St Brides Major 955.
Afterwards, we met in the Crown and Tyford for some beers and a Sunday lunch, and then there was a game of Aunt Sally.

Practice Shoot at Doddershall 2nd June
A lovely morning’s shooting with some tricky stands. Thank you Brian, Dawn, William and the Team for setting up the Shoot.
There were some issues and complexities in setting up the shoot. One field was out of action because of the long grass. On the second field, we also had the power people handing off the pylons and also driving up and down the road. The shoot had to be stopped on a couple of occasions to allow vehicles to drive up the road.
The work on the power cables is to allow two new towers to be built where the cables cross over the proposed HS2 line. These towers will be taller than the existing towers, raising the height of the power lines over the to be built line.. The work where we are is necessary because the tables need to be taken down and placed on some temporary towers while the new towers are built.
