The recent dry weather has allowed the land to lose some of its water. The shoot was on, though the traps had been moved onto and off the field by hand. Today was dry, the sky was blue and there was a light breeze. It was cold, though some shooters thought otherwise. A good turn out with 36 cards handed in at the end of the day.
A demanding shoot with nobody managing 40.

Our first shoot of the year was held on the 1st of January. Despite the recent rain, the weather was relatively benign with the sun making an appearance.
A reminder, subscriptions are now due.

Maybe we had missed the intense cold from the previous days, it was still a chilly shooting day, the ground hard from the previous frosts, and a strengthening wind. It was scheduled to rain, but thankfully that held off.
The shoot was in memory of Fred Dymock. He always held a boxing day shoot on a piece of land on the crossroads this side of Quainton railway heritage site. The land became a car park for the heritage site, and now it is owned by HS2. We would shoot and stand next to a blaze in a large oil drum keeping warm, while we consumed whisky. Fred would construct some special clays which would distribute confetti when they were hit.
Today we shot 50 clays for the Fred Dymock Trophy. This is a handicapped shoot, based on previous scores through the year. The shoot was over 6 stands. During the tea break we also held a flurry with teams of three people.
After the shoot we went back to Ludgershall village hall for lunch and the prize giving. A lovely lunch was supplied by the club and prepared for us by the ladies.

Hi All, Sunday 18th December is the Christmas shoot and Fred Dymock Trophy shoot – as in other years we will be serving food at Ludgershall village hall after, members can invite a guest to join them for the food free of charge – please let me know who’s coming for ordering the food, Thank you.
Well attended shoot, on a chilly day. At least one member was put off from joining because of the inclement weather, or was it the previous night’s village Christmas meal.

We were lucky to avoid the rain this morning, a good turnout considering the forecast. (I didn’t avoid the rain walking from the car to the pub 🙁 )

A different shoot today, set up by Mark. (Dawn and Brian were away). We had 6 stands, shooting eight on each stand, and ten on the driven pair. It has been some time since we have shot a driven pair, and this caught many out. This correspondent welcomed the driven pair, it saved an otherwise disastrous score card.
The weather was excellent and unseasonably warm and still very dry underfoot.

Lovely weather for the shoot, but HS2 have now put-up fencing along the land they intend to work on. Parking was restricted and we had to park on the field.
