On Sunday 8th May, a small group of Kingswood shooters made the trip to St Brides Major to shoot at their local ground. St Brides Major club ground is in a quarry, accessed by a narrow road, thankfully we met no vehicles coming the other way. This shoot has been regularly held for as long as I have been a member of the club. Invariably the weather, despite being in Wales, is invariably good. This year was no exception, and the sun shone brightly. The shoot for us is challenging, we are shooting against a cliff face, or up a steep hill through vegetation. We have rarely won this round of the shoot, and this year was no exception. St Brides Major beat us. We did come away with a consolation prize, Mark H scored the high gun of a bottle of whisky. Tradition was this was drunk on the coach home. No coaches today, so no drinks on the way home.
After the shoot we had Sunday lunch at the Star in Wick. The beer was excellent, I had a pint of all the draft beers. The roast beef lunch was excellent with plenty of gravy, vegetables, and beef.
Looking forward to the return match when Kingswood hosts the match. This is expected to be in July.
