Practice Shoot at Quainton 16th April 2023
We returned to our Quainton shooting ground for the first time since June of the previous year. The journey to the ground was not affected by the HS2 roadworks. Many commented on the excellent quality of the road surfaces where HS2 vehicles have to travel. The shooting on the site is now limited, we can only shoot from the old railway embankment, towards the East over the fields. The field conditions determine whether we can shoot from the bank or the field. Today the fields were very wet, so only a limited number of traps were placed on the field, each requiring manual relocation up the embankment at the conclusion of the shoot. With improved field conditions we can provide more variety with incoming targets and low flying crossers. Nevertheless, it was an interesting and different shoot with a distinct set of targets. The scores were higher than usual for everyone.
